Rose of
Dubrovnik's accommodation categories:
We have categorized our huge selection of accommodation according to
general level
of comfort and price. Prices will vary according to season, length of
stay, and number of guests, which is why our price list is not featured on
the website. Ahead of season, preference is given to Summer bookings of
seven days and more, while short-stay vacancies are released a month in
advance, and meanwhile, we operate a waiting list for short-stay visitors,
and these can often come up in advance. A rough guide to the Summer
pricing of categories is as follows:
We have
also introduced a new category for our growing range of

the best accommodation for your holiday needs. The names of our
accommodations are unique to Rose of Dubrovnik for the purpose
of avoiding the common local practice of similar and repetitive
naming of accommodation. Some of these accommodations may also
be offered by other booking agencies in Dubrovnik.
Terminology used on this website is as accurate as we
can make it, and given international variations and
nuances, we can only try our utmost to clarify whenever
requested, and if a particular quality of an
accommodation is tantamount to guests' satisfaction,
that should be specifically enquired about. In general,
private coastal or beach access is
generally-speaking against local policy regarding
land-ownership. Waterfront will refer to a
property that is close to the waters' edge, the distance
will be defined, and there will be no building
obstructing water views or frontage. Distance to the
Old Town refers to the approximate shortest walking
or driving distance from the Old Town precinct, which
can extend just beyond the actual walls of the Old Town
(ie: the East-West banje beach and the Lazareti complex
are part of the precinct). Guests should also note the
discrepancy in defining bed-sizes (ie: USA and European
terminology are not uniformly defined to re King size,
Queen size, etc) When in doubt, please seek exact bed
measurements.
Prices
listed at this site are based on low season, two persons
sharing, and is the price per night, not per person. Pricing
will vary according to season, number of guests, and length
of stay. The price will be quoted per apartment or villa,
not per person, however, be sure to stipulate for how many
guests the booking is required, as this will influence pricing. See our Terms and Conditions for full details of
booking at Rose of Dubrovnik. Occasionally, the same
property may be let through other outlets at differing
prices, we will do our best to match our competitors prices.
We now provide a range of payment options, including secure
online credit card payment through Payway gateway, or direct
bank transfer, Western Union, bank draft, or Travelers
Cheques. Full details are available clicking at

Any clarification required will happily be made by our staff

Addresses of
Rose of Dubrovnik apartments and villas will be provided after booking is
completed, as will landlord's contact details, and in the
meanwhile, our site indicates the neighbourhood of each
accommodation, Dubrovnik being made up of a handful of
neighbourhoods, each quite distinctive in its appeal.
Mobility and fitness levels are important considerations in
visiting Dubrovnik, due to pedestrian-only access of the Old
Town, and the steep nature of the Southern Dalmatian
terrain. More information to assist you in choosing the most
suitable accommodation can be found at Introducing Dubrovnik!
Where to stay
in Dubrovnik?
The city of
Dubrovnik, local population just less than 45000, is situated in
the narrow strip of shore between the sea and the steep slope of
Mount Srd (
pron.:
Serge), which peaks
above Dubrovnik at 412 meters. Visitors should prepare
themselves for the famous steps of Dubrovnik, and inclines, and
it is the very slopes that are the secret behind the many
vantage points that afford visitors so many magnificent
panoramas of Dubrovnik and the surrounding islands and sea.
Mobility and level of fitness are very important consideration
when choosing accommodation in Dubrovnik, and the timing of your
visit. (see further notes below)
We refer you first
to our
Map of Rose of Dubrovnik Accommodation for an
overview of the layout of the city and surrounding districts,
with distances indicated. We have indicated at our site both
distances from the Old Town, and walking time, for a person of
reasonable fitness. Generally, the better the views, the higher
on the incline the accommodation is, which translates as a
faster walk into town, and generally can mean a more challenging
return to the accommodation up the incline. Any concerns about
fitness, mobility, and accessibility should be addressed with
staff prior to booking. Anywhere in Dubrovnik is not far from
the Old Town! Dubrovnik is a compact city, taking less than ten
minutes by car to traverse her city-limits. Your choice of where to stay will be governed by
what type of holiday you are wishing to enjoy. See below for
some useful tips.
The
Old Town ("Stari Grad"): looking for the color and verve of the Old
Town and international crowds, then we suggest
accommodation in the Old Town itself. The Old Town
is encircled within the famous and imposing Fortress
Walls, just 2 and a half kilometers circumference,
within which you can enjoy pedestrian-only access,
and a world on its own. Gundulic Square beside the
famous Pucic Palace is the setting for a daily
Farmers Market, and in the evening fills with
restaurant tables for al fresco diners, and the
Summer outdoor performances of Romeo and Juliet.
Fitness levels:
First-time visitors should note that even in the Old
Town many accommodation options will involve access
down to the Stradun via several flights of steps.
Access in the Old Town is strictly pedestrian, which
mean cabs cannot generally take you to the door of
your accommodation, and your host will tend to agree
to meet you at one of the three major draw-bridge
entrances. If you have health, fitness, or mobility
limitations or require the use of a car and parking,
these would be most important considerations. Many
accommodations will be available also on relatively
level ground, but you should check before reserving
according to your needs and restrictions.
Supermarkets and the
Gundulic Farmers market service this area.
Ploce (
pron.: Ploch-eh ):
elegant and at a quick walking distance (though uphill
on return to accommodation), and with the most classic
of views (see photo at left). Easy reach to the East West Beach Club, and
the trendy Sv.Jakov beach. Perched against the slope of
Mt. Srd, Ploce affords the most classic of views of
Dubrovnik Old Town . The neighborhoods can be
surprisingly peaceful, despite the location , and walks
along Frana Supila will always be dominated by the
breath-taking views of the fortress of Sv.Ivan(St.John),
and the Old Town Harbour. View above is the classic
Ploce view. Photo shows typical view from Ploce hill.
Fitness levels:
First-time visitors should note that this trendy
district, which arguably offers the best views of
the Old Town, generally will demand a good level of
fitness and mobility. Many accommodation options
will involve access down to the Old Town via several
flights of steps. Cab access to the door of your
accommodation may not be possible, but generally
your driver will take you as close as possible. For
this reason, your host will tend to agree to meet
you at one of the nearby landmarks (eg: street front
to the Excelsior Hotel on the Frane Supila, or "at
the zicara" which isb the bus station by the old
cable car terminal.). If you have health, fitness,
or mobility limitations or require the use of a car
and parking, these would be most important
considerations. Many Ploce properties will not
include exclusive parking spaces. Visitors are
advised to check before reserving according to your
needs and restrictions. Supermarkets are present in
this area, and in the Old Town the Gundulic Farmers
Market operates daily attracting many tourists.
Pile (
pron.: Pill-eh): perhaps
you still wish to be within a few minutes walk,
but enjoy more park and garden settings, and views
of the northern aspect and Lovriejnac Fortress, then
Pile is the place to look. View above is taken from
fortress walls, looking over Pile to the north.
Fitness levels:
First-time visitors should note that this colorful
district, which arguably offers great views of the
northern aspect Old Town, generally will demand a
good level of fitness and mobility. Many
accommodation options will involve access down to
the Old Town via several flights of steps. Cab
access to the door of your accommodation may not be
possible, but generally your driver will take you as
close as possible. For this reason, your host will
tend to agree to meet you at one of the nearby
landmarks (eg: nearby at the Hilton Imperial Hotel).
If you have health, fitness, or mobility limitations
or require the use of a car and parking, these would
be most important considerations. Many Pile
properties will not include exclusive parking
spaces. Visitors are advised to check before
reserving according to your needs and restrictions.
Lapad
(
pron.: La-pud): just five
to ten minutes by bus, or a half hour's walk away is
Lapad- one of Dubrovnik's favourite destinations for our
return guests, who enjoy the relaxed pace, the huge
range of beaches, the famous promenade, the restaurants,
and boutiques.
Fitness levels:
First-time visitors should note that this
fashionable district is generally very
"user-friendly", and it is for good reason return
guests often specifically request Lapad as their
holiday base during their visits to Dubrovnik. Most
properties will include parking, and be serviced
well with regular bus services into the Old Town
(five to ten minutes ride). A reasonable level of
fitness will be required to access many properties
on Petka by steps, but a gentler gradient road also
allows access, while bus services and cabs are
easily available. In most cases, cabs will be able
to take you to the door of your accommodation. If
you have health, fitness, or mobility limitations or
require the use of a car and parking, these would be
most important considerations. Visitors are advised
to check before reserving according to your needs
and restrictions. Lapad is also the location for the
popular
Maestrali group of beach-side hotels.
Visitors will also be
delighted to find Farmers Markets regularly
operating around this district, offering fresh and
fragrant daily produce, more economically priced for
local consumption.
Gruz
( pron.: Gruzh):
while in Gruz,
you find yourself above the busy harbour and yacht
marina, and the locals' favourite colourful
marketplace.
Fitness levels:
First-time visitors should note that this practical
location affords great views and atmosphere of a
modern day harbour. ost properties will include
parking, and be serviced well with regular bus
services into the Old Town(five to ten minutes
ride). A reasonable level of fitness will be
required to access many properties on the Srd rise
by steps, but a gentler gradient road also allows
access, while bus services and cabs are easily
available. In most cases, cabs will be able to take
you to the door of your accommodation. If you have
health, fitness, or mobility limitations or require
the use of a car and parking, these would be most
important considerations. Visitors are advised to
check before reserving according to your needs and
restrictions.
Visitors will also be
delighted to find the Gruz Market operating daily,
and offering the most extensive range of fresh and
fragrant local produce, more economically priced for
local consumption.
Regional Dubrovnik-Neretva County: Rose of
Dubrovnik also offers a great range of options for
accommodations in Southern
Dalmatian regional towns and islands,
for that ultimately relaxing experience- nothing quite
beats one's own private beach and the pristine waters of
the Southern Adriatic, and Korcula ( pron.: Korchul-ah)
, Ston , Peljesac( pron.:
Pel-ye-shuts)
, Zaton ( pron.: Za-tonne
), Plat(
pron.: Pl-aht )
, Mlini ( pron.: Mliny),
and the Elefits ( pron.:
Eleh-fit)
Islands beckon like sirens to all who want to be
mesmerized once again by nature.
Each of the surrounding
regions is distinctive, and we will update this page

choice of destination for your accommodation in
Dubrovnik.
Dubrovnik for
the Disabled and Health-Restricted
Dubrovnik's Old Town is a
pedestrian-only area, and mobility of visitors is an important
consideration when choosing accommodation. Disabled visitors, or
visitors with mobility or health impairments, are very welcome
at Rose of Dubrovnik, but are cautioned to read through the
following guide on the terrain of each suburb or district of
Dubrovnik. Being an old town, dating back hundreds of years,
paths are often uneven, and steps (and in many instances, many steps) are
de rigeur in many parts of the inner
city and Old Town. The Old Town has been lovingly and
sympathetically restored following the damage by war and other
calamities over the many centuries. Lifts were not invented in
the middle ages, and guests are advised to book accommodation
accordingly, and always ask specifics of each accommodation in
terms of accessibility. For guests with mobility limitations,
and requiring car access to the door of accommodation, this is
better sought in either the districts of Lapad, Gruz, or the
close regional towns, with some exceptions in the inner circle
of properties. Visitors with skeletal, joint, nervous, heart,
lung conditions are advised to seek advice when enquiring. The
Summer warmth should also be a consideration for visitors with
health restrictions, with many return visitors opting for the
mellower weather during April and September/October.
Listed here
are accommodations we can recommend for those experiencing some
mobility difficulties, and needing to minimize steps:
